Everything this piece is for sits on a surface you cannot see while you are wearing it. From the front there is a solid, smooth, opaque panel and two thin hip straps that lie flat and leave no line, which is to say there is nothing at all, and that is deliberate. A design that lives at the back needs a front that does not argue with it. Under work clothes this gives away precisely nothing.

Turn round and it arrives in three parts: a band across the waist, a second strap falling away from it to trace a deep V, and, where the two meet low on the spine, a row of linked gold-tone hearts making the join that fabric would ordinarily make. The panels beside the centre strap are cut away, so the hearts land on skin rather than on cloth. The rise is high, so the upper band sits at the waist rather than down on the hip.

The fabric is a 96% polyester microfibre with medium stretch, a different animal from the cotton pieces here, and it does not go in a machine. Cold water, hands, a mild detergent and flat drying, and that is the entire list: a dryer, an iron or bleach will each finish it. Keep the hearts dry after washing and store the piece laid flat, because hardware left loose in a drawer finds lace and mesh and holds on to them. Sizes run XS to XXL with each measurement given in both units, worth checking, because there is no way back once the packaging seal is broken.
