A reserve of light,

The pigment sits inside the yarn, which makes the net a small store of light rather than a lamp. You fill it under a bright source, it pays that back on a falling curve once the room is dark, and you refill it as often as you want. In plain daylight it gives nothing away — a flat chalk-white fishnet, the same garment as the blue pair with a different pigment in the thread.

01A minute at the window
Direct sun fills the thread faster than anything else, a bright bulb held close comes next, and room light from across the apartment barely registers. Most of what you get out of an evening is bought in the last minute before you leave.

Light comes off the strand and the openings between strands stay black, so what you see is a drawn lattice and not a panel. That is also why the pattern changes shape around the body: pulled wide over the hip the cells are large and the lines sit far apart; closed up at the calf they crowd together and the leg reads brighter per square inch.

The leg runs unbroken to a closed toe, and the toe is knitted in a tighter mesh than the rest, which is why it photographs as a solid green cap instead of open diamonds.

Wash it by hand in cold water with a gentle detergent. Anything that spins will catch the net and drag the leg out of true.
